Kayla Hagen won two individual events, in addition to a relay, and Isabelle Price won both diving events on Saturday's tri-match with SUNY Buffalo State and Baldwin Wallace Colleges.
The Fredonia State men's swim team's Patrick McCrone won two events at the three-team tri-meet at SUNY Buffalo State on Saturday. The Orchard Park native took the 200 backstroke and 500 freestyle.
"Pink the Rink 2023" is just under 100 days away. The Fredonia State men's hockey team has chosen Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, for its annual event. That evening, the Blue Devils will take on Potsdam in a SUNYAC game starting at 7 p.m. in Steele Hall Ice Arena.
Kayla Hagen won three events when the Fredonia State women's swim and dive team traveled to William Smith over the weekend. Hagen took the 100 backstroke, 50 freestyle, and 200 backstroke. Hagen was also part of the winning 200 free relay squad. The Devils fell short in the team scoring, 151-93.
Patrick McCrone and Mike Viollis were triple winners as the Fredonia State men's swim team defeated Hobart 137-26 on Saturday. Lucas Weiner and Tyler Conti both won two events, and Noah Wisniewski combined with Conti, Violis and McCrone to win the 200 free relay.
The Fredonia State women's soccer team put forth a gritty performance on Senior Day, but fell short in a 1-0 loss to Oneonta. After just over 75 minutes of play, the Red Dragon's Hannah Kelly provided the margin of victory for the visitors.
The Fredonia State men's soccer team made the eight-hour trek to Plattsburgh worthwhile, coming away with a thrilling 3-2 victory on Saturday. The win greatly improves the Devils' chance of a post-season berth.
The Fredonia State women's cross country team competed at the Rowan 6k Invitational in the Open Division on Saturday. A total of 87 runners finished, with Fredonia State's Alexandra Battaglia claiming first in a time of 23:55.6.
On Oct. 8, the Fredonia State Athletic Department inducted five individuals and three Teams of Distinction into its Hall of Fame. Among those inducted was Greg Prechtl, who has been involved with the athletic department over 50 years. Sarah Hite-Moore, Jordan Basile, Matt Borchard and Walter Hubbard were also inducted.
The Fredonia State swimming and diving team won its first meet of the season this weekend, and Head Coach Bill Bradley claimed his first win. Rachael Mayou and Kayla Hagen both won two individual events and one relay. The ladies earned the team victory, out-pointing Pitt-Bradford, 114-45.
