Devils suffer close loss on Senior Day

The Fredonia State women's soccer team put forth a gritty performance on Senior Day, but fell short in a 1-0 loss to Oneonta. After just over 75 minutes of play, the Red Dragon's Hannah Kelly provided the margin of victory for the visitors.

The Devils pressed the action much of the afternoon, outshooting their opponents, 15-9, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. Lexi Lindamer led the team with four shots and Bri Grazen had two shots on goal.

Sabrina Suriani made a pair of saves while allowing one goal.

Olivia Forbes and Bryanna Meehan each turned inb 45 minutes towards the Oneonta shutout.

Head coach Chris Case honored 10 seniors and their families prior to the game: Kayleigh Daniels, Madalyn Traverse, Sabrina Suriani, Gabby Alston, Izzy Audette, Lexi Lindamer, Jordan Barrett, Talia DeFay, Sophia Alesi, and Suzanna Wojnowski.

The Devils (2-9-4 and 0-7-2 SUNYAC) wrap up the season at Alfred on Tuesday.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
