Igoe recognized for videos

Department of Communication Assistant Professor Michael Igoe’s video, “Interviewing: Getting the Facts the Feelings, and the Focus” has won another award. The Broadcast Education Association (BEA) is honoring it at its On Location Conference this fall in the Instructional Category of the Video Competition. The award will be given in October during the BEA regional conference in Denver, Colo.

Opera house to host free screening of Fredonia documentary

The red carpet will be rolled out at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House for community members as well as students and faculty of the State University of New York at Fredonia for a screening of “Among the Hemlocks. Fantastic Stories from Fredonia, NY” on Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m. Assistant Professor of Communication Roslin Smith produced and directed the documentary that explores the history of Fredonia.

New ‘Meet the Professionals’ session to explore Communication field

Students majoring in Communication can gain valuable career insight from industry leaders, teachers and practitioners at a “Meet the Professionals” gathering on Wednesday, April 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Ten Fredonia alums will be among representatives joining the meet-and-greet to focus on the job and internship opportunities.

Smith collects third award for artist documentary

Department of Communication Assistant Professor Roslin Smith will receive the Award of Creative Excellence, a highly competitive honor bestowed by the Broadcast Education Association, for “Moods, Mountains and Masterpieces. A Portrait of an Artist: Marcia Merrins.”
