WNYCO going ‘Bach to Basics’ for Sept. 26 concert

The Western New York Chamber Orchestra will open its 2021-22 Classics Series on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. in King Concert Hall with the program “Bach to Basics.”

Les by Conductor Glen Cortese, the orchestra will perform the Baroque classics of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach including the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and Cantata No. 160, featuring vocal soloist Brent Weber, tenor, of the School of Music.

Other guest vocalists are Madeline Harts (soporano), Laurie Tramuta (alto) and Joe Dan Harper (tenor) of the School of Music and Fredonia graduate Brandon Mecklenberg (bass).

They will perform along with the Fredonia Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Vernon Huff on Cantata No. 80 (“A Mighty Fortress is our God”).

Tickets are available through the Campus Ticket Office in the Williams Center, by phone at 716-673-3501 and online.

It is a general admission event. Students and children are admitted free, but must have a ticket. Masks are required for all, regardless of vaccination status.
