The Fredonia State tennis team claimed a 7-2 win over Houghton College on Monday. The Devils won Nos. 1 through 5 singles, and No. 2 and 3 doubles. Both losses went to tiebreakers.

Caitlin Snyder had the most convincing win of the evening, taking No. 1 singles, 6-0 and 6-2. Lucy Prevet needed a tiebreaker to win No. 2 singles 6-7, 6-4, 10-8.

Gabbi Farr took the third singles 6-4, 6-2. No. 4  Sierra Allen cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Sophie Olson was the final singles winner, taking No. 5 at 6-3, 6-4.

T'Kaia Parker battled to a tiebreaker before falling 6-2, 7-6 (10-8).

Houghton narrowly claimed a point at No. 1 doubles 8-7 (10-8) over Bernadette Gens and Snyder.

Prevet and Olson took No. 2 doubles 8-3, and Farr and Allen took No. 3 doubles, 8-4.

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
