The Fredonia State men's basketball team opens up its 2023-24 campaign with a home game vs. Allegheny on Wednesday evening. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m. in Dods Hall.

The Devils return seven players from last season. The team has 13 new players, but 11 of them have college experience. Derek Reed and Nate Mashaw are the only true first-year students.

Tyrese Fuller, Keenan Roberts Jr., and Isaiah Youngquist are among the top newcomers. Fuller and Roberts were teammates at Northampton Community College in Pennsylvania that went 30-5, and made it to the third round of the NJCAA Tournament. Youngquist comes from Iowa Lakes Community College.

DeAndre Hayes, Lance Welker, Marquis Tubman, and Alon Haimovitz are the team's four seniors.

The Devils will also be home Friday with a 3 p.m. matinee vs. Grove City. The Devils will get in seven contests before opening SUNYAC play at Buffalo State on Dec. 2.

The team will also use a pair of games against scholarship programs to prep for a tough conference schedule. They travel to NCAA Division I LeMoyne on Nov. 29, and to NCAA Division II Mercyhurst on Dec. 9.

Head Coach Sean Smiley enters his third full season on the Blue Devil bench. He will be assisted by Vinny Shioleno and Jerome Moss.
