Saturday, Feb. 4 will be one of the busier days for the Fredonia State athletic department. In addition to a home swim meet, basketball doubleheader, and hockey game, there will be two alumni games, National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), and the return of Pink the Rink.

The morning will kick off with women's and men's alumni basketball games at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively, in Dods Hall.

Next up, the swim teams will compete against Cortland at 1 p.m. Women's basketball tips off an hour later, then the men go at 4 p.m.

At 7 p.m., Pink the Rink returns to Steele Hall. The event received national attention from ESPN in its first year, and has been a highlight of the hockey season ever since, packing Steele Hall and raising money for the American Cancer Society.

For NGWSD, the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County will partner with United Way of Northern Chautauqua County and Fredonia State to provide access to different sports for girls ages 9 to 12 in Northern Chautauqua County throughout the day. Local community volunteers and student-athlete volunteers from Fredonia State Athletics will help with the event.
