Fredonia State tennis defeats Thiel 7-2

The Fredonia State women's tennis program downed Thiel College on the road on Sunday afternoon.

"Today's match was a real high point for us" noted Head Coach Jane Gens "We put together everything we've been practicing for the last few weeks and this great feed back for the next upcoming match against Daemen next Friday."

The Devils cruised to a 7-2 win over the home Tomcats. Leading the way for the Devils in singles was Bernadette Gens, closing out her match in under a hour wining 6-0. Caitlin Snyder earned a 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 win at the second slot in singles and Lucy Prevet won her match as well, going 6-0, 6-3.

Sophia Olson secured the victory for Fredonia State 6-2, 6-2 victory. Nastya Korsh match concluded singles competition with a 6-3, 6-2 victory, as well.

In tight doubles action, the visiting Devils came out on top, taking a 1-0 lead to start doubles earning a 8-1 win from Gens and Synder, over the Tomcat duo of Toby Atwood and Payton Blankenbeckley. In the Second doubles match Prevet and Olson defeated Emily Peter and Mei Williams 8-4. The Devils would drop the third doubles match to Thiel.

The Fredonia State women's tennis next play Daemen University on Friday, April 12 at 5 p.m. in Buffalo, NY.
