Down 2-0 in the first period, the Fredonia State hockey team scored twice later in the first to tie the game at 2-all, as that score would hold up after a scoreless second, third, and overtime.

Johnny Malandruccolo continued his hot streak on offense, scoring the equalizer in the final minute of the first period. It was Malandruccolo's fifth goal of the year, and fifth point in the last five games.

Fredonia State's other goal came off the stick of Ethan Pitzman at the 16:55 mark. Johnny Aonso assisted on both scores. Jake Murphy added an assist on the Pitzman score.

From there, the Devils rode the hot goaltending of Logan Dyck, who made 40 save and earned the game's first star.

Cortland (10-5-2 / 6-2-1 SUNYAC) scored 1:03 into the game when Anthony Bernardo went over Dyck's left shoulder. Johnny Facchini put the Red Dragons up 2-0 at 11:02.

Ronan Mobley was credited with 21 saves for Cortland.

The Devils held Cortland to 0-3 on power plays, including a 5-on-3 opportunity.

The Devils (4-12-1/3-8-1 SUNYAC) are back in action in Steele Hall on Friday when they take on Chatham at 7 p.m.
