Dr. Lee Golembiewski

Ph.D., Old Dominion University

Dr. Lee Golembiewski completed his Ph.D. in Health Psychology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and M.S. in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his B.S in Psychology from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Dr. G has a specialization in Developmental Psychology and is passionate about teaching and service. He is an active member of many professional organizations including the American Psychological Association (APA) Division 2: Society for the Teaching of Psychology. Outside of academia, Dr. G is an activist and advocates for the advancement of LGBTQIA+ and other underrepresented populations. In his spare time, Dr. G enjoys working out, playing guitar, and spending time with his family. During football season, you can find him rooting for the best team in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills.

Foundations of Psychology (PSY 129), Child Psychology (PSY 349), Cognitive Development (PSY 364), and other courses related to developmental psychology and gender and sexuality.

Research Interests

Dr. G's research focuses on minority stress and mental health among sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations. More specifically, his work highlights the impact of stigma, discrimination, and internalized homophobia among SGM college students. His most recent study examined the effect of minority stress on sexual minority college students’ mental health by investigating the role of social support and sexuality-specific social support. Dr. G plans to continue his research among individuals at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities to raise awareness and reduce mental health disparities for all SGM populations.
