Young donor raids piggy bank to support new child care center

Three-year-old Riley Grey Smith Mallon, in photo at right, visited the Fredonia College Foundation House in late December to make a generous donation to his “school,” the Campus and Community Children's Center (CCCC) at SUNY Fredonia.

The CCCC is raising money to pay for items that will promote growth and education in its new facility, set to open in the spring of 2010. After learning of this campaign, Riley asked his parents, Dr. Cynthia Smith of the College of Education, and Craig Mallon, if he could donate money from his piggy bank to the new center, which serves children throughout Northern Chautauqua County — more than half of whom have no connection to the university.

To learn more about the CCCC and its needs, please contact the Fredonia College Foundation at 716-673-3321, or visit them at 272 Central Ave. in Fredonia.
