Shannon McRae awarded NEH summer grant

Shannon McRae, associate professor of English and American Studies coordinator, has been accepted to a summer institute in Chicago funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and sponsored by the Newberry Library.

The institute -- Making Modernism: Literature and Culture in Twentieth-Century Chicago, 1893-1955 -- will provide McRae with valuable research material for her current book project on 20th century American spiritual tourism, and will also open avenues for curriculum development in SUNY Fredonia’s American Studies program.

The program begins June 17 and lasts four weeks.

Dr. Robert Strauss will conduct the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus in “ WALK TOGETHER,” a concert to be performed at three sites in May and featuring “Tyler’s Suite,” a nine-song cycle about the life and death of Tyler Clementi, as well as songs from, or about, Buffalo, NY.
