School of Music plans many concerts this month

The community is invited to the Art of the Guitar, supported by the Fredonia Guitar Society.
Professor James Piorkowski and friends take the stage in Rosch on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. for a performance entitled, The Composer and the Guitarist: An evening of original compositions by James Piorkowski, featuring one of his newest compositions for solo classical guitar, "Eucharisteo."

Piorkowski will be joined by colleagues Julie Newell, soprano, and Daniel Ihasz, baritone, singing music by Ortiz and Piorkowski.

Art of the Guitar weekend continues with a guest artist concert featuring prize-winning French classical guitarist Gaelle Solal on Sunday, Feb.17 at 4 p.m. (note: $5 admission). Guest pianist Laura Melton will give a solo recital Sunday evening at 8 p.m., also in Rosch.

Also on the calendar in February, the Faculty Showcase concert featuring members of the music faculty on Monday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. in Rosch; Border to Border Jazz Artists on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. in Rosch, and three band concerts: Concert Band on Tuesday, Feb. 26, Wind Symphony on Feb. 27, and All College Band on Thursday, Feb. 28, all in King Concert Hall at 8 p.m.

In addition to the once-weekly list of concerts and special events, notices of any changes or cancellations to the schedule will be posted.
