Rob Deemer will talk about Doctor Atomic for "Inside Opera"

Dr. Rob Deemer, Chair of the Fredonia School of Music composition department, will be the keynote speaker at the "Inside Opera" event hosted by OperaBuffs of Western New York on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Buffalo.

His lecture precedes the afternoon showing of the Metropolitan Opera's high definition production, Doctor Atomic, at the Regal Theatres in Buffalo. Dr. Deemer's talk is entitled, “John Adams’ and Peter Sellers’ Dr. Atomic: An Atomic Collaboration.”  His talk will cover the long-term collaboration between Adams and Peter Sellars, and how contemporary opera fits within current culture.

Dr. Robert Strauss will conduct the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus in “ WALK TOGETHER,” a concert to be performed at three sites in May and featuring “Tyler’s Suite,” a nine-song cycle about the life and death of Tyler Clementi, as well as songs from, or about, Buffalo, NY.
