Nina Shah to speak at Social Science Colloquium

Fredonia, N.Y. — November 7, 2008 — The SUNY Fredonia college of natural and social sciences is hosting a Social Sciences Colloquium on the SUNY Fredonia campus Wednesday, Nov. 12. The colloquium’s guest speaker will be Nina Shah, assistant professor of management for the department of business administration.

The title of Shah’s talk is “Cohort Dynamics as a Source of Instability in the Norm of Loyalty in large Corporate Law Firms, 1974-1990.”

The event will be held  at noon in Thompson Hall, room W380, the sociology reading room. The colloquium is free, and open to all faculty, staff and students. Cookies and beverages will be provided by the Dean of the College of Natural and Social Sciences, the event sponsor.

The college of natural and social sciences includes the following departments: biology, school of business, business administration and accounting, economics, chemistry and biochemistry, computer and information sciences, geosciences, mathematics, physics, political science, psychology, sociology and social work, speech pathology and audiology, and sports management and exercise science.

Strauss to conduct area concerts

Dr. Robert Strauss will conduct the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus in “ WALK TOGETHER,” a concert to be performed at three sites in May and featuring “Tyler’s Suite,” a nine-song cycle about the life and death of Tyler Clementi, as well as songs from, or about, Buffalo, NY.
