Nick Guarino wins SUNYAC's Molnar Award for academics

Nick GuarinoThe State University of New York Athletic Conference membership body has selected Nick Guarino from Fredonia State to win the Dr. Sam Molnar award for the 2009-2010 year.  The award is on of two presented annually to a junior or senior athlete with the best combination of academic and athletic ability.

Guarino, a junior on the Blue Devils cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field teams, carried a 3.40 GPA for six semesters as a Computer Information Systems major with a concentration in systems management. He has been named to the SUNYAC All-Academic team three times and the Commissioner's List twice.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
