Julia Hopson is ResLife student of the month

Julia HopsonJulia Hopson, shown in photo, was chosen for September 2008 Student of the Month by the Residence Life Student of the Month Committee for her dedication to athletics, academics, and campus community involvement as a whole.

Julia (senior, Visual Arts & New Media major) is an outstanding student, athlete, and artist from Poughkeepsie, NY.

She is a captain for the women's track & field team, received the Keeper of the Dream Scholarship, is a part of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee(SAAC), and the Golden Key National Honor Society. She holds several SUNYAC, ECAC and Fredonia State records in track and field.

She was also selected as one of 30 athletes across the country to have her art work featured in an NCAA publication.

This year she wants to be 2-time All-American in women's track & field. She enjoys Fredonia's friendly atmosphere and all the opportunities that are available.

Julia's future goals are to be a successful designer. Julia has completed the student leadership program in Campus Life and is thinking about grad school after graduation.

Strauss to conduct area concerts

Dr. Robert Strauss will conduct the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus in “ WALK TOGETHER,” a concert to be performed at three sites in May and featuring “Tyler’s Suite,” a nine-song cycle about the life and death of Tyler Clementi, as well as songs from, or about, Buffalo, NY.
