Campus salutes Custodial Team at annual awards luncheon

Dozens of SUNY Fredonia custodial staff filled the Dods Hall Multipurpose Room on Jan. 12 to celebrate a year’s worth of excellent service and receive congratulations from numerous campus administrators.

Specific accolades at the 11th annual Custodian Awards luncheon were shared by President Dennis Hefner, Interim Vice President for Administration Karen Porpiglia, Vice President for Student Affairs David Herman, and Environmental Health and Safety Director Anne Podolak.

“Our campus is truly among the jewels of the SUNY System, and every one of you is an important reason why we’ve gained that reputation,” said President Hefner. “Our campus always looks beautiful, and that makes such a difference to everyone who works and visits our campus.”

Following the lunch, Ms. Podolak, Assistant Director of Custodial Services Mark Delcamp, Environmental Safety and Sustainability Specialist Sarah Laurie, and Head Janitor Suzanne Freitas announced and congratulated recipients of Safety Incentive Awards resulting from the fall building inspections.This year’s winners included:

All recipients received a certificate and monetary award. In addition, all those in attendance were entered into a series of raffles for various SUNY Fredonia apparel and other items.

Strauss to conduct area concerts

Dr. Robert Strauss will conduct the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus in “ WALK TOGETHER,” a concert to be performed at three sites in May and featuring “Tyler’s Suite,” a nine-song cycle about the life and death of Tyler Clementi, as well as songs from, or about, Buffalo, NY.
