Croxton, Drout will have Fulbrights next year

Two longtime members of the SUNY Fredonia Department of Psychology, Dr. Jack Croxton and Dr. Cheryl Drout, are among nearly 800 U.S. faculty and professionals to be awarded Fulbright Scholarships to pursue overseas teaching and research during the 2007-2008 academic year.

SIFE helps Shorewood look for new members

A team of marketing students has kick-started a campaign for Shorewood Country Club. SUNY Fredonia students, all taking the course taught by Professor Joseph Izzo entitled, Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), are aiming to increase membership at the club, especially of a younger age group. Team members are Daniel Mazurkiewicz, Jessyca Riehle, Kevin Riley, and Kevin Scully.

Honored researcher to present Kasling Lecture

Visiting Assistant Professor Gurmukh Singh will present the 2007 Kasling Memorial Lecture, "The Birth and Death of a Star," at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the Juliet J. Rosch Recital Hall. The Kasling Lecture recognizes a member of the faculty whose scholarly excellence has enhanced the reputation of the university.

Chemist awarded grants to conduct lake research

SUNY Fredonia has landed a couple of big fish, so to speak, in Great Lakes environmental research with the receipt of major grants from the Environmental Protection Agency and National Science Foundation. The university, through Dr. Michael Milligan in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has been awarded a $157,000 grant to purchase state-of-the-art laboratory analytical equipment designed to detect very small concentrations of pollutants in fish, water, sediment and air.

Spring internship at Disney is senior's dream come true

Joshua Jeffery will be graduating from SUNY Fredonia this spring with a BFA degree in Theatre Design and Production/ Scenic Design. He won’t be on hand to accept his diploma, however, because he’ll be in Orlando, Florida, finishing out a six-month professional internship in "imagineering" at Walt Disney World that is truly his dream come true. "The office setting I'm in is wonderful and very creative," he said. "The days are a bit long and very busy, but never boring. I love coming to work."
