Rohan Patrick, ’92, the new owner/manager of The White Inn in Fredonia, will be honored as this year’s distinguished alumnus at the EDP's annual awards ceremony on Wednesday, March 11. Having established a stellar, 16-year career as an illustrator and graphic designer which he continues to maintain through an online business, Patrick moved from Monticello, N.Y., last fall to undertake this new adventure.
SUNY Fredonia’s Educational Development Program (EDP) will celebrate its students at the 27th annual awards ceremony on Wed., March 11 at 4 p.m. in the Horizon Room of the Williams Center. The Dec. 6 matinee of “A Christmas Carol” raised $3,025.75 for the Tim Jensen Class of 1990 Scholarship fund. In the spirit of the Christmas season, the Department of Theatre and Dance at the State University of New York at Fredonia donated the proceeds from its Saturday matinee in memory of a former student and visiting artist.
The fall Phonathon, conducted by the University Advancement division and coordinated by Director of Development Timothy Murphy, brought in over $64,000 in pledges from SUNY Fredonia alumni to support the efforts of the Fredonia College Foundation in providing scholarship and program support to the university. “Considering the current economic conditions, I am pleased with the outcome of this semester’s Phonathon. Our student callers are great ambassadors for Fredonia,” stated Mr. Murphy.
The Coalition on West Valley Nuclear Wastes has donated 90 cubic feet of primary documents to the Archives and Special Collections at SUNY Fredonia. The materials, pertaining to the West Valley Nuclear Demonstration Project, have been collected and maintained over the last four decades by the Coalition, an activist group of primarily Cattaraugus and Erie County citizens.
Telarc International, a prominent record label in classical music, has picked the Juliet J. Rosch Recital Hall at SUNY Fredonia to record the debut album of 16-year-old violinist Caroline Goulding, a rising talent who has already performed with major orchestras in Cleveland and Detroit and won several young-artist honors.
The Fredonia College Choir and guest soloists, along with professional chamber orchestra under the direction of Gerald Gray, will perform J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the Juliet J. Rosch Recital Hall at the SUNY Fredonia School of Music.
