Dambacher qualifies for NCAA 100, 200 dashes

Anna Dambacher (Soph.; Divernon, Ill.) has officially qualified for the NCAA meet which starts Thursday at Ohio Wesleyan University's Shelby Stadium in Delaware, Ohio. She is Fredonia State's lone NCAA representative, male or female.

Fredonia to host annual high school Math/Science Challenge

Nearly 400 students from 19 high schools in Western New York will flock to SUNY Fredonia to explore “Grease – STEM is the Word!” at the 14th annual Math/Science Challenge on Thursday, May 22. Seven activities or challenges have been designed by faculty in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, with support from colleagues in the remaining STEM disciplines (Science, Technology and Engineering).

Students, campus, gearing up for 2014 Commencement

SUNY Fredonia will host two ceremonies during its 187th annual Commencement, to be held this Saturday, May 17, in Steele Hall Arena. Bachelor’s and master’s degree recipients, as well as those earning advanced certificates, will be honored at two ceremonies, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. For more information about each ceremony and rehearsal, visit the Commencement website.

Morrison sets women's 400-meter record

Laura Morrison broke the 400-meter outdoor school record Friday during the Gator Open at Allegheny College. Her record time of 58.63 seconds was nearly a half-second faster than Rachel McNamara's 59.11 in May of 2004. Morrison finished fourth in the event.

Katharine Carney named ‘Student of the Month’ for April

Outstanding academic achievement, combined with solid facilitator and leadership skills, earned Katharine Carney the Student of the Month honors for April by Residence Life. Carney, a senior English major from Rochester, was nominated for the award by English Professor Natalie Gerber, who said Carney has been “outstanding in her academic work.”

Carl H. Lam receives Lanford Presidential Prize

Carl H. Lam, a senior from Hamburg, N.Y., who is concluding a banner senior year at SUNY Fredonia, has been chosen to receive the Lanford Presidential Prize, an honor that recognizes a member of each graduating class who has exhibited balanced achievement and exemplified Fredonia’s ideals.

Women's Lacrosse to play in NCAA tourney with home game Saturday

Fredonia has been selected to play in the NCAA women's lacrosse tournament for the second time. The Blue Devils (11-6) will play host to Liberty League champ Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 3 p.m. on Saturday at University Stadium. The Blue Devils made the tournament as an at-large team, just as they did in 2012, when they played host to St. John Fisher.
