Students develop a taste for the Big Apple

Even though Fredonia is located eight hours away, students from the College of Education are finding a way to span that distance and add their energy to the City That Never Sleeps. “New York City has become a magnet for many of the (Fredonia) music students who are anxious to not only student teach, but share in the rich musical world that is represented by the region,” said Natalie Lukas.

Allers takes an active interest in helping kids

Three years ago, Meagan Allers wasn’t involved in many extracurricular activities. Today, this member of the Class of 2013 has become one of the most active student leaders on campus. Most people across campus know Meagan as the vibrant president of the Fredonia for St. Jude chapter, an organization dedicated to raising money for the world-renowned St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tenn.

Stellar Students: Fredonia's first Fulbrights

This fall, two Fredonia graduate students from the College of Education, Amanda Bogert and Catherine Riedesel, depart for Andorra and Turkey, respectively, as recipients of one-year Fulbright scholarships to become English teaching assistants. Both earned master’s degrees in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in May.
