SUNY Fredonia students in the Department of Visual Arts and New Media were singled out for recognition by the Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County for their special donation to the organization.

In November, the students held a sale of their artwork and donated a percentage of their profits - $1,440 - to Literacy Volunteers at its bookstore, The Next Chapter, located in downtown Fredonia.

LVCC Board President Priscilla Bernatz, in a letter to President Stephen H. Kolison Jr., stated, “A donation of this size will pay our rent for a month…In this time of uncertainty, with funding sources being cut, we are relying more on donations and sales from our bookstore. I can’t emphasize enough the heartfelt gratitude for a donation of this size. Please acknowledge these students and their department for this wonderful gesture of community support.”
