Gabe Gonzalez

Gabe Gonzalez from Williamsville has been named Student of the Month for April by the Office of Residence Life.

Mr. Gonzalez was nominated by Dr. Sue McNamara from the School of Business. He serves as president of Hall Council, is a work study student, a cashier at Lowe’s Home Improvement, a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society and an inductee of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society in business.

It was noted that Gonzalez contributes greatly to the Fredonia community through his innovative ideas. He is a member of the Enactus Mentoring team through which he participates in a program that he helped develop to mentor high school students during the pandemic. He also worked on a team to pitch a solution for the Sustainability Development Goal on Workforce Development that won second place and is now being considered for future implementation by Enactus.

Dr. McNamara describes Gonzalez as someone who “always participates in team bonding experiences” and noted that he will be going on the Enactus executive board next year as Innovations Lead.

When asked about his favorite things about Fredonia, Gonzalez stated that it is “a very small and inclusive community.” He continued, “[i]t’s easy to make friends with people and not only that, but the clubs here on campus offer a wide spectrum of opportunities. I am fortunate enough to have been introduced to Enactus which has already opened the door for me in terms of my community and myself. I see this as being a huge opportunity to not only help me grow as an individual but for me to give back to the community.”

Gabe’s future goals include creating an all-inclusive theater business and giving back to his community.

The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 through the Office of Residence Life to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics, and contribute positively to the campus and community.
