College of Education Professor of Mathematics Education Cynthia Smith, along with two emeriti faculty, Dr. Ana Maria Klein and Dr. Mira Berkley, presented a two-hour professional development workshop on Oct. 18, via Zoom, to over 30 teachers from Academia Washington in Caracas, Venezuela.

Their presentation assisted the teachers in their integration of STEM-STEAM education in the early grades.

Academia Washington, a bilingual pre-k/12 school, has an international baccalaureate program, modern facilities that support outdoor education and highly trained teachers, many of whom are bilingual. The workshop was presented in English and Spanish.
