Senior Monica A. Manney is one of 12 college journalists from across the U.S. selected to participate in a Diversity Fellowship Program, sponsored by Capitol Broadcasting and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Media and Journalism.

The hands-on workshop, slated for March 13-17, will include working with media professionals and professors from UNC, WRAL-TV and WRAL.com. The workshop’s goal is to prepare the students for careers in broadcast media and will include producing TV reports and newscasts, as well as clips for the students’ professional reels, and to create stories to be posted to WRAL.com

Ms. Manney noted, “I am honored to be selected to be a part of such an amazing fellowship. I look forward to working with my peers and industry professionals. My biggest objective is to get as much feedback as I can and expand my writing skills.”

Manney was recently named the Lanford Presidential Prize recipient for 2019.
