Alumna Anne Martinez performs "Defying Gravity" from the musical "Wicked" during Rockefeller Arts Center's 50th Anniversary Concert Gala Pops concert last September. It is among the performance clips Rockefeller is sharing online via Facebook.

While current events brought an unexpected early end to Rockefeller Arts Center’s 50th Anniversary Season, the center’s staff has not forgotten about their valued donors and patrons.

As a way of thanking donors and patrons for their support in 2019-20 and the previous 49 seasons, Director Jefferson Westwood has been busy cultivating special live performance clips to share during the absence of actual performing arts events.

“We plan to post new videos several times a week on our Facebook page,” Mr. Westwood said. “Sometimes they will be videos we made at one of our past pops concerts or rehearsals. Other times, we will post a video by another artist or ensemble. We invite your nominations as to short videos worth viewing.”

“We invite your nominations as to short videos worth viewing,” Westwood noted.

Nominations may be made via Rockefeller’s Facebook page or by sending an email to westwood@fredonia.edu. Like Rockefeller Arts Center on Facebook or on Youtube at youtube.com/rockefellerartscntr to stay up-to-date on these posts.

And while Rockefeller’s physical offices may be closed, the staff is still hard at work preparing to resume events as soon as circumstances safely allow.

Programming will again include events in the DFT Communications Pops Series and the Kaleidoscope Family Series, as well as the school performing arts field trip series, On Stage For Youth.

In addition, the Department of Theatre and Dance is working on plans for the next installment of the Walter Gloor Mainstage Series, and the Hillman Opera and the Western New York Chamber Orchestra are also planning their returns.

“On behalf of the Rockefeller Arts Center staff, I thank everyone for their patronage,” Mr. Westwood said. “We all look forward to seeing you again as soon as the circumstances will allow.”
