ABOUT THE NURTURING INNOVATION CAMPAIGN

Heroes become victims in a compelling and locally-produced new film.

"Lighthouse Unmanned" is a film that was shot in Dunkirk, N.Y., about lighthouse keepers dealing with the arrival of computer automation, and how the sudden change impacted their jobs, families and status in the community.

Several Fredonia students were invited to intern on the film, which was shot over a few weeks in October 2016. The film was slated for release in early 2017. The Fredonia interns got to participate in just about every aspect of filmmaking, from set decoration to equipment setup, to acting as extras. It was an educational and enriching experience for the students, and a great deal of fun.

Most of the Fredonia interns on the film were Video Production majors, though one Environmental Science major got to create a project to help the film crew go green.
