SUNY Distinguished Professor James Piorkowski

SUNY Distinguished Professor James Piorkowski of the School of Music is serving as president of the board of directors of Internal Creations, a New York City-based music education program founded by Jahzeel Montes, a 2012 Fredonia graduate who received a Mus.B. in Music Education and is the organization’s executive director.

Internal Creations partners with schools and community programs in the city to develop leadership, self-sufficiency and life skills through learning the classic guitar. The organization aims to be the leading guitar education provider and become a central venue for all communities to share and learn and to be exposed and empowered through instrument learning and performances.

Additional School of Music alumni also active in the organization include: Matthew Mazanek, ’14, Mus.B. in Music Performance, as a board member and head of the education curriculum; and Matthew Kingsley, ’15, Mus.B. in Music Performance, as an instructor.
