"Morning, All Day," SUNY Distinguished Professor James Piorkowski's recent composition for guitar quartet, has been published by IMD of Paris, France.artwork

The composition was inspired by a summer morning's sunrise on the shore of Lake Ontario. “While sitting with a cup of coffee overlooking the lake, my wife, Susan, and I were quietly enjoying the gradually changing light in the morning sky and its reflections on the water's surface,” Mr. Piorkowski recalls.

“It seemed as if it was happening in slow motion, and Sue said, ‘This morning may last all day.’

“I knew then that I wanted to express that experience of the blossoming light through music, and began writing this piece for four guitars,” Piorkowski said.
