Music education professor Webb signs with leading publisher

School of Music Associate Professor Rick Webb has been signed as a composer/arranger by Keiser-Southern Music, a leading educational and concert music publisher for choirs, bands, orchestras, chamber music ensembles and solo instrumental performance.

Dr. Webb specializes in string orchestra arrangements of music by Black American composers of the early 20th century “pre-jazz” era. His first two published arrangements, “The Castle Walk Rag,” by James Reese Europe (1881-1919) and Ford T. Dabney (1883-1958) and “The Memphis Blues,” by William C. Handy (1873-1958), will be available to school orchestras in the coming months. 

Webb has presented research-based sessions for practitioners at state and national music education conferences, is a frequent guest conductor/clinician for festival and all-state orchestras and serves as the string camp director for the SUNY Fredonia Summer Music Festival.

Marrazzo conducts master classes

School of Music Assistant Professor Don Marrazzo gave a master class at Houghton University and also did a two-day residency at Detroit Opera to work with members of the Resident Artist Program.
