Dr. Shannon McRae of the Department of English was invited to participate in the World Religions and Spirituality Project.

Dr. McRae’s profile of the Israelite House of David, an early 20th century communal society located in southwest Michigan, was recently published on the project’s website. Her work on the House of David is part of an ongoing book project on the intersections between non-mainstream religious experience, popular culture, and tourist attractions in early 20th century America.

An international scholarly consortium that collaboratively produces an online, academic reference resource, it has received about 300,000 visitors drawn from over 25 nations. Developed primarily as a resource for scholars, the information is intended to be accessible as well to students, journalists and a general literate audience.
