Update as of 3/35/20:  The club anticipates honoring Mr. Giambrone at a ceremony this fall.

The SUNY Fredonia Business Club will honor local pharmacist Greg Giambrone as its 42nd Annual Businessperson of the Year at a dinner on Saturday, April 4, at Shorewood Country Club on West Lake Road in Dunkirk.

The Business Person of the Year Award is presented to outstanding members of the Fredonia and Dunkirk business communities. Recipients are selected based on their community involvement, business ethics, innovation in business, concern for employees and contributions to the growth of local business.

The event will begin with a cocktail hour and hors d'oeuvres at 5 p.m. with the program and dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets are available to the community for $35 and $15 for students, payable by cash or check the day of the event. Attendees can also reserve a table for eight people for $250.

The deadline for reservations is Saturday, March 28 to Molly Gibbs, Business Club president, by emailing mgibbs1@fredonia.edu or calling 716-713-7852.

Mr. Giambrone is the owner of Concord Pharmacy on Route 60 in Fredonia. He knew he wanted to be a pharmacist since he was a teenager running errands to pick up prescriptions at the old Leader Pharmacy in Fredonia for his grandfather.

He earned his Pharmacy degree from Butler University and immediately started his career in Indianapolis, Ind. Mr. Giambrone felt a nudge to come home and in 2013, took the entrepreneurial leap to open Concord Pharmacy. During the first few months of business, he was the only employee, working extremely long hours six days a week. Since then, he has grown Concord Pharmacy to one of the highest grossing community pharmacies supplied by Rochester Drug Cooperative Inc., a wholesale drug supplies pharmacy located in 10 states across the northeast serving major metropolitan markets.

Concord Pharmacy today employs four full-time and seven part-time workers. Organizers of the event noted that Mr. Giambrone’s hard work and dedication has paid off in developing his business and in forming strong bonds with his customers in Chautauqua County. They noted he believes in people first, making sure to know every one of his customers by first name, and ensuring his employees are always able to focus on family time and maintain a true work-life balance. Mr. Giambrone has always been dedicated to community involvement in Fredonia, the place he grew up and  lives today.

Mr. Giambrone and Concord Pharmacy were previously recognized by the Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary as Business of the Year.
