Fredonia Symphony to perform ‘all-American’ concert

The College Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Associate Professor David Rudge, will present an all-American concert on Saturday, March 5, at 8 p.m., in King Concert Hall.

“Points of Departure,” by Philadelphia composer Robert Moran, will open the concert under the baton of Assistant Conductor Andrew Wolffking, a graduate assistant in Orchestral Conducting in the School of Music. Mr. Wolffking has a B.M. in Saxophone Performance and Music Education from the Chapman University Conservatory of Music and an Artist Diploma in Orchestral Conducting from the San Diego State University School of Music and Dance.

The world premiere of Dana Wilson's “Concerto for Jazz Piano and Orchestra” will feature Assistant Professor Nick Weiser, pianist and coordinator of Fredonia's Jazz Studies program.

The orchestra will conclude the concert, which is free and open to the public, with Leonard Bernstein's dramatic and colorful “Suite for Orchestra” from the operetta "Candide."
