Xin Fan, assistant professor of history, has received the Florence Tan Moeson Fellowship this summer to revise his book manuscript on a world history in China at the Asian Division of the U.S. Library of Congress.

“The Vulnerable Consensus: World History and National Identity in Twentieth-Century China” will offer an overview of the development of the world history discipline in China, with a focus on the tensions between national identification and global outlook among Chinese historians, Dr. Fan said.

The Moeson fellowship provides compensation up to $3,000 to graduate students, independent scholars, researchers and librarians to cover expenses incurred while conducting research at the Asian Division of the Library of Congress, located in southeast Washington, D.C.
