Emily Brown named February Student of the Month
Emily Brown, a senior majoring in Childhood Inclusive Education from Rochester, N.Y., has been designated Student of the Month for February by the Office of Residence Life. She was nominated for this award by Director of Student Conduct Lisa Newell.
Ms. Brown, who has a 3.81 GPA, is a very active student on campus. She is part of the Jump Start program and a New Student Orientation leader and held two leadership positions on the Executive Board of Sigma Gamma Phi. Additionally, she is involved in various community service opportunities such as Relay for Life, community clean-ups and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, among others.
Brown loves to volunteer and stay involved in her community because “these opportunities have allowed me to meet new people as well as gain leadership skills.”
When asked about her favorite things about Fredonia, Brown replied, “one of my favorite things about Fredonia has to be how kind and welcoming everyone is! When I came to Fredonia, I immediately felt right at home because you can feel the sense of community right away.”
Other things that she loves about Fredonia are all the amazing opportunities it has to offer. “There is truly something for everyone here at Fredonia and I will forever be grateful for all the opportunities,” Brown said.
After graduation, Brown plans to attend graduate school to earn a master’s degree. Her goal is to one day be a first-grade teacher or teach a special education class.
