On hand for the awards presentation were (left to right) Director of Residence Life Kathy Forster, Alicia Wroblewski, Rachel Clayback, Assistant Director Daniel Goodwin and Associate Director Kevin Hahn.

Rachel Clayback, a senior B.F.A. Dance major from Buffalo, was chosen to be the September 2018 Student of the Month by the Office of Residence Life.

Alicia Wroblewski, agency program aide in the Office of Residence Life, nominated Ms. Clayback for the award. Clayback is a part of Dance Team, Envied Xpressions, Student Dance Organization, Fredonia Dance Ensemble and is secretary of Unione Italiana. She is also a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society and Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society.

Clayback noted, “My favorite thing about Fredonia is the sense of community that exists on this campus and the level of acceptance among all communities.

Fredonia is truly a home away from for me, and I have found a family for myself here as well, within the theater and dance department, in the clubs I am involved in, and even in the Residence Life office. I have found that the students and faculty of Fredonia are also extremely welcoming and supportive, and someone is always there to offer a helping hand when you are in need.”

Following graduation, Clayback wants to audition for different dance companies and work as a professional dancer. She also wants to volunteer at a studio that is devoted to helping dancers with special needs and disabilities. Her long term goal is to own her own dance studio and continue to teach.
