Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences Assistant Professor Szu-Han Kay Chen is co-principal investigator on an awarded project: Percent Grammatical Utterances (PGU) in Mandarin-English Bilingual Children: Initial Reference Data and Psychometric Properties.

The project was funded in July by the Office of Multicultural Affairs of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), a professional association of speech-language pathologists, audiologists and speech, language and hearing scientists.

Dr. Chen will collaborate with the PI, Dr. Ling-Yu Guo, of the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences at the University at Buffalo, to evaluate PGU in Mandarin-English bilinguals. The results will advance the understanding of grammatical development in bilingualism.
