Chemistry students author peer-reviewed article in Journal of Molecular Structure

Seven students majoring in Chemistry, including an exchange student from the Philippines, authored an article, "Synthesis and Characterization of Anilinium Ionic Liquids: Exploring Effect of π-π Ring Stacking," which presented their research on ionic liquids, in the Journal of Molecular Structure.
The students – Brett Baker, Christopher Cockram, Swar Dakein, Jonathan DeMaria, David George, Kaycie Malyk and Mormie Joseph Sarno – found out the subtle changes in the molecular structure of the ion pair greatly affect its physical property, specifically the melting point.
The research data was gathered from a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) course, CHEM 481: Applications of X-ray Crystallography, under the supervision of Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Assistant Professor Allan Jay Cardenas.
