Brown Bag talk to delve into election outcome

Timely reflections of the 2020 General Election will be offered by Department of Politics and International Affairs Associate Professor Jonathan Chausovsky in the Brown Bag Lunch virtual presentation at Fredonia on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from noon to 1 p.m.
“The Day After Hangover: An Election Post-Mortem (or, how to manage in the wake of a) disaster; b) relief; or c) uncertainty),” Dr. Chausovsky’s talk, continues the year-long Brown Bag Lunch theme “The Health of the Nation.”
It’s unlikely Presidential and congressional election results will be known on Nov. 4, Chausovsky suggests, “but we will likely know more than we do now.” National level election returns, to the extent they are available, and an assessment of the accuracy of selected prediction models, also to the extent possible, will be examined by Chausovsky.
“We hope we don’t have to discuss electoral-related violence, but we can consider the long-run consequences of this election for theories of American political development. There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions,” Chausovsky said.
Department of Communication Associate Professor Roslin Smith will introduce Chausovsky.
The monthly series, presented by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, features informal talks by Fredonia faculty and guest speakers. A brief discussion follows each presentation.
