Alumni to discuss medical/dental schools, careers with students

A record number of science graduates of SUNY Fredonia will return to campus to participate in the Health Professions Alumni Panel to discuss their careers and life in medical and dental school with current students, on Saturday, Oct. 15, 11 a.m. in the Science Center’s Kelly Family Auditorium.

“This is an excellent opportunity for students to hear from alumni about medical and dental schools, their careers, and what they should be doing, as undergraduates, to best prepare for health professional schools,” said SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor Ted Lee, the pre-health advisor at SUNY Fredonia.

Six is the largest number of alumni to participate in these annual panel discussions that have been hosted by the Health Professions Advising Committee since 2017.

Alumni who will speak this year include:

• David DiPalma, D.D.S., who practices prosthodontics and performs implant surgery at Dental Solutions of Binghamton in Johnson City. He is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, completed a three-year prosthodontics residency at Eastman Institute of Oral Health in Rochester, N.Y., and a one-year surgical and restorative implant fellowship at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine within the Department of Restorative Dentistry. He received a B.S. in Biology from Fredonia in 2013.
• Maria Green, D.O., a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa. She completed a residency in internal medicine at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, and is currently enrolled in the fellowship program at Albany Medical College, Albany. She received a B.S. in Biology, with a minor in Spanish, in 2013.
• Lily Dixon, in her fourth year at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo She received a B.S. in Molecular Genetics and a B.A. in Psychology in 2019.
• Morgan Steele, in her fourth year at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa. She received a B.S. in Molecular Genetics, with a minor in Chemistry, in 2019.
• Gabi Dierna, in her second year at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. She received a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry, with a minor in Public Health, in 2021.
• Kaylee Martin, in her second year at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio. She received a B.S. in Molecular Genetics, with a minor in Biology, in 2021.

The alumni panel discussion is free and open to students.
