Acclaimed percussionist to perform with Fredonia ensemble

Alessandra Belloni, an award-winning percussionist/singer/teacher/author, will perform with the Fredonia Percussion Ensemble in a concert in Rosch Recital Hall on Monday, April 11, at 8 p.m.

Belloni is artistic director/lead performer of I Giullari di Piazza, Italian Folk Music & Dance Company and artist-in-residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. She is believed to be the only female artist in the world who specializes in Southern Italian tambourines combined with singing and dance.

She was selected as one of the best percussionists in the world by DRUM! Magazine, won a Master Folk Artist grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, received acclaimed reviews in The New York Times and Los Angeles Times, and has performed in festivals in England, Brazil, Poland, France, Italy and Australia.

Ms. Belloni uses Remo drum heads, with her signature series Italian tambourines, and is the author of the best-selling book and DVD “Rhythm is the Cure.”

The concert is free and open to the public.
