‘Local Trailblazers’ focus of Gender & Social Change lecture

Roger Coda

Western New York-based queer women activists and cultural workers will present “Local Trailblazers,” this year’s Gender and Social Change lecture, on Wednesday, April 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., in McEwen Hall G26.

The featured panelists –  Ana Grujic, Adrienne Hill, Camille Hopkins, Ari Moore, Carol Speser and Mother Ebony Talon – will discuss the benefits of focusing on LGBTQ and feminist issues on a local level, collaboration across identity lines, strategies to avoid activist burnout and approaches to problem solving, community building and community organizing.

Now in its sixth year, the lecture brings to campus a scholar or activist whose work bridges the classroom and community, and typically features one guest speaker.

The lecture is sponsored by the Women’s and Gender Studies Program and the student group Fredonia Feminists and is free and open to the public.
