Fredonia develops affiliation with New England College of Optometry

Fredonia has a new affiliation agreement with the New England College of Optometry (NECO).

The 3+4 agreement allows students to matriculate to NECO after their junior year. The agreement allows for high school seniors and Fredonia freshmen and sophomores to apply to the program. Students would complete the prerequisite, major and general education courses at Fredonia and then the first year optometry courses would transfer back to Fredonia, allowing students to complete their undergraduate degrees.

The prerequisite courses for NECO include Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physics, Organic Chemistry, Calculus, Statistics, Psychology and English. Students also need to do well on the Optometry Admission Test (OAT), have shadowing experiences with optometrists and have a letter of recommendation from an optometrist.
