DOUBLE REED DAY GUEST CONDUCTOR: THOMAS J. MUDD, JR.

TJ Mudd

 

Thomas J. Mudd, Jr. is a graduate from SUNY Fredonia. Mr. Mudd has both his Bachelors and Masters in Music Education. At Fredonia, he was a student of Dr. Sarah Hamilton and Mr. James East. Since graduation he has taught for fifteen years in the Buffalo Public Schools. Currently he is the Director of Orchestras for the Olmsted Schools; Buffalo Public Schools #64 and #156, and Bennett Park Montessori as well as Buffalo Public School #32. In addition to public school teaching, Mr. Mudd maintains a select studio of oboe students. Mr. Mudd is a freelance musician playing oboe, oboe d'Amore, and English Horn. He has played principal oboe for the Amherst Chamber Ensembles Chamber Orchestra and was a featured soloist last season in the Telemann Oboe D'Amore Concerto in A Major. Mr. Mudd has also done freelance orchestral and choral conducting throughout the Western New York area including the Lutheran Chorale of the Niagara Frontier, Parkside Festival Orchestra and the Amherst Chamber Ensembles Chamber Orchestra.
