Scotland portrayals in films topic of new Study Abroad course

Scottish Representation in Cinema, a new study abroad program, has been approved by the Office of International Education and will be offered through Fredonia starting in Summer 2021.

Department of Communication Associate Professor Roslin Smith has developed the short-term, undergraduate course that will take students to Scotland for two weeks in early June. The interdisciplinary course will explore how cinematic representations (from 1950 to present) of race, class and gender shape an image of Scotland.

Students will travel to Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow, among other places, while exploring the ways in which Scotland has been imagined and represented in film. More information is available online.
