Chemistry students present research at ACS undergraduate research symposium
Sadie Olrogg, with her award-winning poster, “Synthesis and Deposition of Rhodium Phosphine Complexes in Solid Support for Development of Heterogeneous Catalysts for Hydrogenation Reactions.”
Sadie Olrogg and Brandon Landis, both junior Chemistry majors and members of Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Assistant Professor Allan Jay Cardenas' research group, participated and presented studies at the 14th annual Undergraduate Research Symposium, sponsored by the American Chemical Society of Western New York, held April 9 at SUNY Buffalo State.
Mr. Landis, of Penfield, delivered an effective, well-received presentation of his study to develop a copper and nickel molecular system that will activate a very biologically relevant molecule, nitric oxide. Ms. Olrogg, of Springville, presented her data on her design of Rhodium heterogeneous catalyst for carbon dioxide conversion. She received the Outstanding Poster Presentation Award for her excellent research and presentation skills.
The symposium, which highlights exciting research executed by undergraduate students and their mentors from Western New York and surrounding areas, including Southern Ontario, was well attended.
Olrogg and Landis also gave those presentations at the American Chemical Society’s Spring National Meeting in San Diego in March.
