2022 First-Year Student Checklist

✔ Send Your Deposit!

Your $100 deposit reserves your space in the Class of 2026. This deposit covers your residence hall deposit ($50) and your academic deposit ($50). Upon being accepted you have until June 1 or 30 days after your acceptance (whichever is later), to send your deposit and commit to Fredonia.

✔ Complete Your Housing Application & Roommate Matching

Once your deposit is processed, you will be instructed to complete your Housing Application online through Your Connection. This application allows you to rank your preferences, and identify roommate requests. The Roommate Matching feature concludes on June 17 at 4:00 p.m. Questions may be directed to the Office of Residence Life.

✔ Understand and Accept your Financial Aid

All students who have completed a FAFSA and are accepted to Fredonia will receive a Financial Aid Award Letter. This letter outlines the financial assistance (loans, grants, scholarships, etc.) available to you at Fredonia. Please follow the instructions outlined on the Incoming Students Financial Aid Information webpage. Questions regarding this process can be directed to the Office of Financial Aid at 716-673-3253.

✔ Log-in to your FREDMail Account

Once your deposit is processed, a FREDMail account will be created for you. You can find your log-in credentials (when they become available) on Your Connection. When you reach the main menu page of Your Connection, click on the “View Your UserIDs and Passwords” link located under Personal Information. Listed below your Fredonia ID you will see your eServices UserID and Password. These log-in credentials are used to access your FREDMail.

✔ Complete your Course Scheduling Survey

All students must complete the course scheduling survey in Your Connection. This will assist the Advising Services Office to create your course schedule for the fall semester. Schedule adjustments can be made during an academic advising appointment in July following the completion of the FREDReady mini-course in FREDLearn (see below).

✔ Complete your Health Requirements

Prior to registering for classes, you will need to complete certain Health Requirements in order to comply with New York State Department of Health Regulations for attending college here at Fredonia. Please visit The Health Center- New Student Requirements online to access these online requirements. It is important that all necessary steps be completed. You will receive a confirmation email to your Fredonia email account once we have all of the information that we need.

✔ Send Your Final Transcripts

We must receive final transcripts showing successful completion of your current studies. First-year transcripts should be sent directly from the high school. You will also need to send any AP, IB, CLEP or college coursework you have completed in High School.

✔ Summer Jump Start Enrollment Program

We have designed a two-step process to prepare both first-year and transfer students for the transition to Fredonia. Step One is to complete of an online mini-course called FREDReady, that is located within a student's FREDLearn account beginning June 15. Step Two is to participate in an academic advising appointment between July 12 - July 30, and once the FREDReady mini-course is complete.

✔ Move-In & New Student Orientation

Move-in for new students takes place on Thursday, August 19 between 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. New Student Orientation, or the official introduction to the campus community, takes place during the three days following move-in. Students participate in an NSO Workshop, activities that assist a student to become oriented with campus and their new environment, as well as key academic and community connection activities.
