Dr. Ziya Arnavut

Dr. Arnavut has been teaching at the Computer and Information Sciences Department since 1997. He served as the chair of CIS department from August 15, 2015, to May 15, 2019.



His main research areas are data compression, image processing, multimedia, and algorithms. Dr. Arnavut worked as a consultant on image and video coding. He received the Kasling Lecturer Award in 2015 and served as the chair of the CIS Department from 2015 to 2019. In addition, he served as the Associate Editor for the Computer and Electrical Engineering Journal of Elsevier from 2007-2018 and chaired several international conferences.

Computer Science courses such as Operating Systems, Digital Image Processing, Data Structures, Algorithms and Programming courses.

Research Interests

Data Compression, Image Processing, Multimedia applications, Algorithms.
