Fredonia Communication Department Internships

The Fredonia Department of Communication has an active internship program that helps students secure internship positions that give students the opportunity to explore career options, gain professional skills, and develop related work experience. Students can visit the Career Development Office's resources for locating internships worldwide.

Internships are a fantastic way to gain real world experience while in college! The benefits include:

• an opportunity to develop and learn new communication skills 
• job experience for a resume
• experience in a career field 
• a possible job upon graduation
• contacts and networking possibilities
• a chance to earn college credit 
• confidence in applied skills

In fact, having an internship experience counts as a graduation requirement for students majoring in journalism. For all communication majors, credits earned for completing COMM 480: Communication Internships contribute to the overall 120 credits and 45 upper level credits that are required to graduate. Please note that an internship experience does not count as an elective for communication majors. 

As you consider your internship options, keep in mind that credit bearing internships are open to any registered student who has completed at least 30 credit hours, has a minimum GPA of 2.0, and has not completed more than 24 internship credit hours. Internships can be paid or unpaid. A student must work 40 hours per 1 credit hour. In addition to completing hours at the internship site, students must submit written assignments for the course.
